Sample Itineraries

THE BRAZILIAN NATURALIST - 15 Days – 14 Nights
The Amazon Clipper
Begin your adventure in Manaus – the capital of the mighty Amazon River. Upon arrival and check-in at the landmark Tropical Hotel, you will have a city tour of Manaus to see the world famous Opera House of the Rubber Barons. The next morning you will transfer onto the Amazon Clipper for a 3-day/2-night cruise in air-conditioned staterooms. Besides piranha fishing and canoe trips, one of the highlights is cruising into the meeting of the waters where the brown Amazon and the black Rio Negro rivers run side-by-side for miles before blending together. Transfer back to Manaus airport.

Your next stop will be Campo Grande – the gateway to the Pantanal – the Brazilian version of the Everglades -- only larger! The largest freshwater wetlands in the world are home to the Giant Anteater, the Jaguar and millions of exotic birds. After spending the night in Campo Grande at the Eldorado Hotel, you will be transferred to Caiman Lodge deep in the Pantanal for a 3-night stay. Besides full board and an air-conditioned room, you will be able to choose from up to 3 activities per day such as horseback riding, alligator spotting, photo safaris and others. You will be transferred back to Campo Grande airport.

Next you arrive in Iguassu Falls, one of the great cascades in the world. Within the roar of the falls, you will stay at the Tropical Hotel Cateratas for one night. You will also enjoy a tour of the Falls, on the Brazilian and the Argentinean sides, as well as a trip through the Macuco Safariland to see the local flora and fauna. You will be transferred back to Iguassu airport.

Spend your remaining 3 nights in beautiful Rio de Janeiro where you will stay at the new Plaza Ipanema hotel – centrally located one block from the famous beach of Ipanema and one block from the shops and cafes of Ipanema’s main shopping street. Relax on the beach, shop for trendy clothes with your strong dollar or take an optional city tour. You will be transferred back to Rio’s international airport for your overnight flight back home.

PRICE (Land Only, per person, double occupancy) from $2,199.00 - Price may vary with season.

COLONIAL BRAZIL – 11 Days – 10 Nights

Your venture into Brazilian history begins in romantic Rio de Janeiro where you will stay 3 nights at the new Plaza Ipanema Hotel – just one block from Ipanema’s world-famous beach and one block from Ipanema’s tree lined shopping district of smart boutiques and trendy cafes. You will take a city tour to visit the famous landmarks of Rio, such as Corcovado and Sugar Loaf as well as Colonial treasures of the city, which was founded in the 1500’s. You will also have a half-day tour to Petropolis in the spectacular Organ Mountain above Rio to visit the Summer Palace of the former Emperor of Brazil. You will be transferred to Paraty by land.

From Rio, you will be given a guided tour of the Rio de Janeiro countryside, which includes stunning vistas of Angra dos Reis Bay on your way to Paraty. The village of Paraty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where cars are prohibited on the cobblestone streets of the central district – which is restored to look as it did in 1750 as a Portuguese Colonial port for treasure from the rich mines in the mountains. You will stay at the Pousada de Sandi in the middle of the village. Visit the quaint shops, which sell local arts and crafts, and enjoy a meal in one of the 300-year old village restaurants. You will be transferred back to the Rio airport by land.

When you arrive in Salvador, you have come to the Afro-Brazilian capital and the first Colonial capital of Brazil. You will spend 3 nights at the Bahia Othon luxury hotel with an ocean-view. While you will have time to explore this bi-level city (there is an elevator to connect the two parts!) we have planned a half-day historical tour and also a night with dinner in Pelourinho – the historic Colonial district of Salvador. You will be transferred to the Salvador airport.

Your final stop will be in Recife – the capital of Pernambuco state and Brazil’s northeast. You will be transferred to your hotel from the airport – the Atlante Hotel on Boa Viagem Beach for 2 nights. You will have a city tour of the historic city of Olinda, which is a suburb of Recife. Spend some time on the dry, sunny beaches of Recife before returning back to the airport and your journey home.
